FIAB was formed to represent the various professional Spanish food and drink organisations through a single body. The Federation is partially government funded and its role is to promote Spanish food and drink globally. FIAB exhibited at the Speciality Fine Food Fair at Olympia in September 2009, representing Spanish producers and Denominacións de Origen. They organise the Spanish pavilion at a number of trade fairs globally which include in 2010, SIAL China, Winter Fancy Food Show San Francisco, PLMA Amsterdam, and many others.
